📢 Westcotes Weekly Update 👮♀️👮♂️ It’s been another busy week for the Westcotes team! Here’s a little look at some of the work we’ve been getting up to across the local community and City Centre;
🔎 Supporting investigations – We obtained CCTV footage which has been passed on to Detective Constables to assist with an ongoing investigation.
🚗 RTC & suspected drink driving – Officers arrested a male suspected of driving under the influence who had fled the scene of a road traffic collision.
🚶 Beat surgery & road safety – Our PCSOs held a beat surgery on Upperton Road, speaking with residents and listening to their concerns. Whilst there, they also identified a vehicle without valid road tax parked on a pedestrian crossing, which was subsequently seized.
🚓 St Andrew’s Church – Following the devastating fire at St Andrew’s Church on Jarrom Street, our team assisted with scene preservation. It was a very sad incident for the local community, and we understand the significance the church holds for many people in the area. Our thoughts are with everyone affected.
🌭 Right place, right time! – Our PCSOs were on patrol around Bede Park when they spotted a BBQ which had been incorrectly placed and had unfortunately set fire to the grass. Luckily, they had water to hand and were able to swiftly put the fire out before it could spread.
🎡 Leicester Caribbean Carnival – Today, our team are supporting high-visibility patrols across the city centre to help keep everyone safe and ensure the carnival runs smoothly. We hope everyone attending has a fantastic and safe time!
🚔 Proactive policing – Officers have continued with proactive stop searches, resulting in positive outcomes and the removal of harmful drugs from our streets.
🏘️ Listening to our community – We’ve also been speaking with residents of St Andrew’s Estates, listening to their concerns and working to understand the issues affecting the local area.
🧸 Nursery Visit – Our PCSOs had a lovely time visiting a local nursery, meeting the children, answering their questions, and sharing lots of smiles along the way. The children also had the exciting opportunity to take a closer look at one of our police cars. It was a fantastic opportunity to create positive experiences and connections with our younger members of the community. 😊
